Latest update: Sunday 17th January 2021
A happy new year and happy new lockdown?! This guide has been live on my blog for almost a year now and every time a lockdown rolls around I give it an update… I didn’t really anticipate another full lockdown in January, but here we go again! This is a guide to the independent food vendors, restaurants and cafés that are continuing to offer takeaway or delivery throughout lockdown.
The guide has had a total facelift since the last update, with new places added, new categories and new images. I’ve featured as many places as I can, so if I’ve missed any, let me know and I’ll update the lists at the bottom of each section.

Akasaka
Akasaka is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Milton Keynes. I absolutely love the takoyaki (octopus dumplings) and nasu dengaku (miso aubergine), and their sushi offering is brilliant. Akasaka Central Milton Keynes is currently for delivery and takeaway and delivery within 3 miles of CMK. Visit www.akasaka.co.uk to order and for the most up to date opening hours.

Café Sen
We discovered this little gem of a Vietnamese café near Bletchley during the last lockdown and it’s now a firm favourite. I recommend the special Banh Mi or the noodle soups and salads. Café Sen is now offering delivery within a certain radius (fees and minimum order apply) as well as takeaway. It’s open weekdays and Saturdays, 9:30am – 2:30pm. Pre-order online via www.cafesen.uk.

Mii & U
Mii & U is one of my favourite Asian restaurants in MK and is a firm favourite for many of you too! They are offering takeaway from their venue in Stacey Bushes. Try the Pad Thai, Chicken Laksa or the bao buns. For the latest opening hours and information, visit their website: www.miiandu.com

Pin Petch Thai Restaurant
Pin Petch is a good option for Thai in Newport Pagnell that has great vegan options as well as meat. I’d recommend the Paeng Red Ped Yang red roast duck curry and the crispy chicken with mango salad. The delivery radius is within 3.5 miles of Newport Pagnell and you can order via the website, Just Eat or their app. Please see their website for the most up to date opening hours and information: www.pinpetchthairestaurant.co.uk

Burgers & Wings
Byte MK
Byte MK is a new addition to the growing gourmet burger scene in MK and it’s an excellent offering. It’s based next to MK Bowl, opposite Furzton, but don’t let appearences put you off. These burgers mean business! It’s a ‘build your own’ concept so you can choose your patty, bun and fillings to make it your own. I recommend the Wagyu beef burger with cheese and bacon. Oh, and try the wings too, they’re fab. At the moment, delivery is only available via GrabNow, but you can also order for collection.

Five Ahki’s
A very good burger destination in Peartree Bridge. Five Ahkis’ burgers mean business. I’d recommend trying the Juicy Lucy or the Big Ahki if you don’t mind something sweeter. The wings from here are also pretty good – try the Chipotle & Lime or Honey & Garlic. Five Ahki’s is open from 2pm daily and you can order via JustEat for delivery or collection.

Gourmet Burger Joint
Gourmet Burger Joint is a brilliant burger destination in Newport Pagnell. The burgers are made from 21-day aged Angus beef and they’re pretty good. Order via their website: kingscomfortfood.square.site

Percy’s BBQ
Percy’s BBQ is a bit of a Milton Keynes staple. Their food has been great on the occasions I’ve ordered, but I know it can be a little hit and miss for some of you. Hope that helps!
I liked Cafe Sen but shocking the chefs never wear face mask. Hope if they can see this post will think about it.
They have always worn face masks when I have visited. If you have feedback, please pass it onto the restaurant.
Urban dhaba Indian open too now
Thanks Karen. I am now only updating this guide with takeaways I have tried or recommend 🙂
We had a no-takeaway January, and celebrated keeping to it on 1st Feb with a burger from Five Akhis after seeing you promote them! We both had a Jucy Lucy (I couldn’t quite bring myself to order a Big Akhi because… strawberry jam? In a burger?) with fries (I had “rustic” – basically means skin-on; Lucie had sweet potato). We had the jalapeno bites and chicken strips as sides, and topped it off with a milkshake. All very tasty, and the portions of fries were very generous. It worked out a little more expensive than a similar order from what I assume to be their more mainstream namesake (though it just occurred to me that they don’t offer sides).
It’s definitely on the mental list for future takeaway nights!
Cafe Sen was pretty good but it was in such a hidden spot! I had the crispy pork vermicelli noodles and pho off the back of straight after reading your post – yummy treat indeed. Saf’s Kitchen in Wolverton, with The Biergarten just next to it, and Pin Petch are also very notable mentions.
It is, but sometimes they are the best! And it is the nature of the cafe as they serve the offices and industrial park. Rents in MK are so high! Saf’s Kitchen is great (though she caters from home, doesn’t have a permanent base!) and Pin Petch is great too I agree 🙂
