For the third year running, YMCA MK is bringing back their hugely successful SoupFest recipe book to raise funds and awareness of their work with young people in the Milton Keynes Community. This year’s theme is “Around the World,” exploring and celebrating the rich diversity of global cultures through the universal comfort of soup.
Once again, this beautifully designed book offers culinary inspiration for the autumn and winter months ahead and all proceeds from the campaign will directly benefit the young people supported by YMCA Milton Keynes.
I was lucky enough to get one of the first books before the official release, and you are going to LOVE the recipes this year. From Mexican Roasted Pepper Tortilla Soup to Bolivian Peanut Soup, Warming Hungarian Mushroom soup to an Easy Japanese-style Ramen, there is something delicious to suit everyone and represent a variety of cultures.
Contributors this year range from MK-based businesses and community groups, charities, street food vendors and local schools. Notably, award-winning street food vendor, Saf’s Kitchen has contributed a delicious Roasted Curried Cauliflower Soup inspired by her Punjabi heritage. I have also contributed a recipe in the form of a wholesome, easy Japanese-style ramen that you can make from scratch. It’s my go-to when the weather starts to turn!
YMCA Milton Keynes is committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of young people. By picking up your copy of the SoupFest book, you are helping to create a supportive environment where young people can belong, contribute and thrive. Your soup-ort will enable us to continue supporting local young people on campus and in the wider MK community. Every spoonful tells a story.
Be the first to get your hands on SoupFest at Sophie’s Street Feast!
We are VERY excited to announce that the first copies of SoupFest 2024 will go on sale at Sophie’s Street Feast on Sunday 22nd September. Head over to the YMCA MK tent where the first 50 customers will also get a special surprise with their book! Find out more about Sophie’s Street Feast.
Who is YMCA MK?
YMCA is the only provider of supported housing dedicated to young adults aged 18-35 in Milton Keynes. Since 1981, they have supported more than 10,000 young people. They provide practical, emotional and employment support to help our residents belong, contribute and thrive.
The state-of-the-art campus opened shortly before lockdown. It provides safe, secure homes for up to 242 young adults. The new campus also features their social enterprise, HomeGround, which I am sure you will be familiar with. The coffee shop offers work experience, training and employment opportunities as well as a revenue stream from YMCA.
YMCA Milton Keynes is an independent charity and affiliates to YMCA England and Wales. YMCAs operate in 700 different communities across England and Wales, impacting upon the lives of more than 570,000 people every year. For further information please visit www.mkymca.com.
