When I asked you guys what Milton Keynes food guides you wanted to see, there were lots of requests for guides to different world cuisines like Italian, Indian and Asian. Dan and I are huge fans of Asian food, from sushi to dim sum so over the past few years, I’ve gradually built up a good repertoire of recommendations. In this MK food guide, I am going to be sharing the best Asian restaurants in Milton Keynes! As always, it’s not an exhaustive list – I only feature places on my blog that I’ve tried and tested, so I’ll be adding to this guide in the future.
MK Food Guide to the best Asian restaurants in Milton Keynes
Akasaka, CMK & Wolverton
Akasaka is one of our favourites, and I know that lots of you guys love it too! It was one of the only Japanese restaurants in Milton Keynes for some time, but they still did it so well. The menu features sushi classics like salmon and avocado roll as well as others with a little twist, like the tuna negitoro. The Nasu Dengaku (miso aubergine) is also amazing!
There are two locations – one in CMK and one in Wolverton, the latter once being under threat of closing, but thankfully it remains open. I personally prefer the Wolverton venue as its much cosier.
Find it: 24 Stratford Rd, Wolverton, Milton Keynes MK12 5LW and Exchange House, 466 Midsummer Blvd, Milton Keynes MK9 2EA
Legend One Sushi Bar, Central MK
Akasaka is no longer the only sushi bar in the city! Legend One is the newest kid on the block after opening at the end of 2019. You can find it right next door to Sainsbury’s opposite The Hub so it’s a great central location. This oriental restaurant serves up both Japanese and Chinese cuisine. I think it has a great atmosphere that’s really relaxed and reminiscent of a sushi bar I visited in New York.
The service is super friendly and I thought the sushi dishes were really innovative, as well as being totally delicious. I loved the Unagi roll and the dragonfly rolls! Let me know if you’ve tried the Chinese dishes there!

Mii & U Oriental Café, Stacey Bushes
Oh Mii & U, how I love you! This hidden gem – albeit not so hidden anymore – is one of the best and tastiest oriental restaurants in Milton Keynes. It’s a brilliant alternative to chains with the dishes coming in at nearly half the price.
Not only can you stock up on all your Asian cooking supplies in the supermarket, but you can enjoy some delicious food at the café! My go-to dish is the Pad Thai, but the katsu curry, dim sum and ramens are pretty good too! I can’t promise it’s the fanciest dining destination but it’s damn tasty.
Find it: Central House, Alston Dr, Milton Keynes MK13 9HG
Pin Petch Thai Restaurant, Newport Pagnell
Pin Petch has been in Newport Pagnell for a while but I only managed to get there last summer. It’s located at the end of the high street in the old Odell’s shop and is a fantastic spot if you love Thai food! There’s a huge range of food on offer for vegans which is a big plus. It’s cosy with friendly service and some truly delicious dishes from pad thai to spicy curries. The sharing platter pictured below is also a winner!
Find it: 13 High St, Newport Pagnell MK16 8AR
Taipan, Central Milton Keynes
Taipan is another gem in Milton Keynes that is heralded by many as the best restaurants in MK! Chinese food is not my favourite Asian cuisine, but Dan and I gave it a whirl one Saturday lunchtime and were pleasantly surprised. The Dim Sum menu has a huge range of dishes available so if you love trying lots of different things you’ll love Taipan! The Chung Feung is delicious, as are the steamed buns.
I’d love to go back to Taipan with someone who knows their way around the menu as for a Dim Sum beginner, the menu could be quite overwhelming.
Find it: 5 Savoy Crescent, Milton Keynes MK9 3PU
So there we have it – the best Asian restaurants in Milton Keynes. However, I know there are still lots of spots for me to visit! I have been recommended Voong’s Chinese and Café Sen in Bletchley as well as Thai Modern, so as soon as I’ve tried them I’ll update this guide if I think they are a worthy addition! Let me know if you have any more recommendations and I’ll check them out.
