Why you need to try Oleevo Pizza in Milton Keynes | AD

AD – This is part of a paid partnership with Oleevo Pizza. I work with vendors I love and genuinely recommend. I’ve been a customer of Oleevo for the past three years.

Oleevo Pizza is one of Milton Keynes’ true foodie gems! There are few takeaways in Milton Keynes that we order from as regularly as Oleevo. We’re lucky enough for it to be our local pizza takeaway and we’ll always order from it over certain pizza chains. It’s already been featured in a few of my MK Food Guides and for good reason. But in this blog post, I wanted to dig a little deeper and provide an insight into why Oleevo Pizza is so good. At first glance, yes, Oleevo is a pizza takeaway but it’s so much more than that. The quality of the food is a result of dedicated research, work to perfect the recipe and ingredients sourced from Italy. In case you hadn’t already guessed, I’m a fan. Here’s why you need to try Oleevo Pizza!

About Oleevo Pizza

Oleevo Pizza has been around for a few years. The owner, Hayrettin, is passionate about Italian food and wanted to bring a new takeaway pizza experience to Milton Keynes. He truly believes that it’s one of the best pizzas not only in Milton Keynes, but in the UK – I wouldn’t disagree with him. In 2021, Oleevo was crowned ‘Independent Takeaway of the Year’ in the Milton Keynes Food and Leisure Awards.

Oleevo is primarily a takeaway. They offer collection and delivery to limited postcodes. Inside, you’ll find about eight seats if you do want to dine in. If the weather is as beautiful as it was when I visited, there are also plenty of seats outside in Bodmin Place. Oleevo shares it with Tasty MK next door. When it’s warm, it feels lovely – almost like being in Europe!

A taste of Italy

At first glance you may assume that Oleevo is ‘just another pizza takeaway’ but they truly take things to the next level. They source ingredients from Italy which ensures authenticity and quality taste that I’ve grown to crave.

The pizzas are cooked in a wood fired pizza oven. The team has dedicated so much time to perfecting the dough so that the base travels well for takeaway orders. The dough ferments for 48 hours whichgives the bases a deep fantastic flavour. Every base is then hand-stretched for the classic Neapolitan style crust which is light, bubbly and crispy.

Oleevo maintains the essential simplicity of Italian food – All you need is good ingredients. Sure, Oleevo is a takeaway pizza, but the effort and time that goes into making each order fresh make it stand out from the crowd.

The food at Oleevo

Oleevo’s menu features pizzas, pasta, calzone and Italian side dishes cooked by their amazing chefs Giovanni and Salvatore. There is an amazing range of pizzas on the menu but if you can’t find something you love, you can build your own and choose from an extensive list of toppings. Every pizza comes in two sizes – 12″ or 18″. 12″ is great if you’re eating solo, 18″ is great for sharing with pals!

The menu also had some tasty Italian classics like arancini, bianchetti and bruschetta. So what did we eat?

Oleevo Pizza is one of the best pizza takeaways in Milton Keynes. Oleevo serves delicious Neapolitan pizza and pasta. Here is my review.

Let’s start with the sides! The Arancini with Pomodoro Sauce (£5.90) is a must-try. Three generously sized servings of risotto, breaded and deep-fried until crisp. In the centre, you’ll find a little surprise of mozzarella which has very satisfyingly melted. The Pomodoro Sauce is simple yet delicious. A fresh, sweet tomato sauce and an ideal accompaniment to the arancini.

The grilled halloumi salad (£6.20) is a popular dish and I can see why. This Mediterranean style salad is totally delicious as a side to share or you could even enjoy it as a stand-alone meal. The halloumi had a delicious chargrill flavour. You can’t go wrong with it.

Now for the main event… As well as the 12″ pizza Capricciosa from the specials menu, we tried the Risotto Frutti di mare (£14.90) which was so delicious. With the warm spring sunshine on my face and a bowl of delicious risotto in front of me, I could have been in Rome! Creamy, tomato arborio rice with squid, king and Atlantic prawns and mussels topped with rocket. It was so fresh and delicious. We enjoyed it straight out of the kitchen but it would takeaway well I think.

The pizza Capricciosa featured ham, mushrooms, artichokes and pepperoni. The artichokes were beautifully soft which combined well with the spiky pepperoni.

We had such a lovely experience at Oleevo Pizza. We will of course continue to order our favourite pizza (18″ margarita please!) but as the weather warms up, I can see us spending a few Friday nights enjoying the food outside. Oleevo has a full alcohol license and served a great range of wines and beers.

It was great to have more time to try more of the menu and show you it’s so much more than just a pizza takeaway. The love, care and pride that goes into the food is so apparent in the quality. If you haven’t tried Oleevo yet, get it on your foodie bucket list, pronto!
