Akasaka, Wolverton & Central Milton Keynes
This little Japanese restaurant is one of my favourite places to eat in Milton Keynes. In fact, it might be right up there, in the top spot and it’s one of the first places I recommend to people and is the ideal spot for a date night. There are two Akasaka restaurants in Milton Keynes but the petite location on Stratford Road in Wolverton remains my favourite.
The sushi is amazing and definitely the best thing on the menu. Dan and I like to order small plates; edamame, salmon and avocado roll, prawn tempura and

The Brasserie at Milton Keynes College
The Brasserie at Milton Keynes College is a very special place indeed. Not only MK College one of the best colleges in the country for catering courses, but its commercial restaurant also won Milton Keynes Restaurant of the Year at the MK Food Awards 2018. The restaurant allows the young chefs of tomorrow to hone their cooking skills and menu development, all overseen by a professional Head Chef.
The money made at The Brasserie goes straight back into the teaching at the college, so it feels like a really good thing to invest in. Students run the whole service, overseen by the staff so head there with an open mind and a little patience, and you will have a lovely meal!

DeRoka Restaurant, The Hub
A new independent has landed in The Hub! With its dreamy interior and delicious Mediterranean menu, DeRoka Restaurant is the perfect location for a relaxed dinner and drinks. The menu has got plenty of choices from mezze to moussaka, kleftiko to mixed grill. The cocktail and drinks menu is already really good and very reasonably priced considering you’re in central Milton Keynes.

Another Italian restaurant, I know, but Fratelli is such a special spot, I couldn’t not add it to this date night guide. I think Fratelli has the best Italian food I have ever eaten outside of Italy. All of their ingredients are sourced from Italy and the fresh ingredients are from other local, family-run businesses.
If you love Italian food in a cosy atmosphere, you will love Fratelli! I would recommend the pappardelle manzo or the lasagne – gorgeous rich, slow-cooked ragus that do not get any better than this!

French Affaire, Stony Stratford
You may recognise French Affaire from my best brunches post. This newest addition to Milton Keynes has just launched an evening menu. French Affaire is making a name for itself for its amazing crepes and now the dinner menu is sure to make some waves. A traditional French menu is a perfect companion to your Valentine’s evening; think hearty treats like beef bourguignon, fondue, and classics like apple crumble with a twist.

The Greedy Italian, Fenny Stratford
The Greedy Italian is a hidden gem nestled in Fenny Stratford. If you want a fuss-free meal and great service in a cosy setting, this is the place. The restaurant itself is very small and is the perfect hideaway for an intimate date night over a bowl of spaghetti, Lady & the Tramp style. The Greedy Italian produce amazing specials are very good at decorating the venue depending on the occasion. Make sure you book in plenty of time – this is a popular spot and it’s not surprising to see why. I highlight recommend the waffle sharing dessert – if you don’t believe me, check it out in my best eats of 2018 post.

Nonna’s, Woburn Sands
Ahh, Nonna’s, back again so soon! You might have already spotted their wonderful brunch in the ‘Best Brunches’ edition of my MK Food Guide and the strawberry scallops in my Best Eats of 2018. Whenever Dan and I want to go somewhere special that won’t break the bank, we always gravitate towards Nonna’s. Not only is the interior of the restaurant absolutely beautiful, but the food is exquisite and they are constantly innovating their menu like no other restaurant in Milton Keynes. A favourite of mine is the lamb neck rigatoni just melts in the mouth. The goat’s cheese and fig ravioli (pictured above) is also absolutely amazing if you are after a veggie option.

Ole Tapas Bar & Restaurant, Wolverton
Cafe Ole is a little tapas bar and restaurant tucked away in Wolverton and it is not to be underestimated. You will find a range of vegetable, meat and fish tapas plates that truly transport you to Spain. It’s the perfect spot for date night as you can pick lots of small plates to share – or not! I would recommend the ‘Crujiente de queso’, filo toffee pastry sheets encasing a goat and manchego cheese blend; the

Oscar’s Restaurant & Bar, The Hub
Another great location in The Hub for date night is Oscar’s. The seasonal menu is made with local ingredients and seriously delivers on both flavour and presentation. With an extensive wine list, fancy interior and good food this is a worthy spot for a romantic evening. It’s a little pricier than the other venues, but the quality certainly reflects this.

Paris House, Woburn
Paris House is definitely the place to go if you really want to push the boat out. It’s one of the only fine dining destinations in the MK area and it’s got a special place in my heart. Located in the breathtaking grounds of Woburn Abbey the location is as special as the food.
We have had several wonderful experiences at Paris House. Phil Fanning is an extraordinary chef with a penchant for eastern dishes so you can expect to see some inspired dishes on the menu, like the bao bun and pork belly pictured above. Paris House offers 6, 8 and
