Okay Google, how does one get through lockdown? The best way to get through lockdown is with CAKE. Small businesses that are offering cake delivery services in Milton Keynes have been a godsend for many people over the last few months, particularly for birthdays or would-be wedding days. I have been very lucky to try a lot of different cake boxes from local businesses over the last few months, and I thought I would comprise and MK Food Guide to those that I have tried.
There are SO many cake box companies cropping up at the moment – it’s amazing to see – but hopefully this guide will help you find the best one for you.
Please note that this list is not exhaustive. I want to feature places in my MK Food Guide that I have tried and recommend myself. If you are a small business and would like to feature in an MK Food Guide or advertise with me, please get in touch.

Bertie’s Bakes
Bertie’s Bakes is a new cake company run by sisters, Alice and Daisy. They have launched a great range of treats and treat boxes for delivery in Milton Keynes. Berties is their British Blue cat – but he’s not allowed in the kitchen, don’t worry!
They kindly gifted me a box of ‘Bertie’s Best Bits’ treats to try. The highlights were the Oreo truffle heart, the Biscoff stuffed cookie and the Jammy Dodger slice. The box was so beautifully presented with little extras such as iced gems. mini marshmallows and a personalised heart biscuit. I would definitely send this to a friend for a birthday or celebration!

Bites of Goodness
Bites of Goodness is a lovely local company that create tasty baked goods! I tried a box of cupcakes and they were the most delicious, soft and fluffy cupcakes. My favourite flavour was the passion fruit. As well as cakes, there’s doughnuts, brownies and more!

Crumbs Kitchen
Crumbs Kitchen is based in Bedford but offers next day delivery to any address in the UK. We tried a box of brownies and blondies which were delicious. The stand out for us was the banoffee blondie – quite frankly, I could just eat an entire box of these they were so good!

Iced Delights
Iced Delights Cakes is a luxury wedding cake company, but due to lockdown, they have diversified to offer treat boxes! The boxes contain a selection of sponge cake flavours (my favourite was to be the cherry bakewell), brownies and chocolate treats.
The boxes at £23 each and can be delivered on Thursdays and Fridays 10 Miles from MK45 9ES in Bedfordshire. Iced Delights also offer free UK wide posting by courier.

Mrs. Macs Sweet Treats
Mrs Macs is pretty famous in MK and well known for their beautiful floral shop. Of all the cakes and brownies I’ve tried, I think these Mrs Macs brownies hit the spot for me. They are the perfect consistency of fudginess with chocolate chips in the mix.
Their online shop is open for local deliveries and now UK wide deliveries so anyone can get their brownie fix!

Oh My Cakery
Kirsty, the superwoman behind Oh My Cakery has become a good friend of mine. We’re still planning world domination with the NYC Cookie recipe that we did on IG Live (Still can’t believe how many people are STILL baking them!!) She’s also a cake legend and creates really fun treat boxes and cheeky loaded brownies.
Instead of Easter Eggs, I got Dan and I an Easter Treat box which was incredible – the highlight being the caramel egg stuffed cookie. I also ordered my Dad a Star Wars themed box which featured a Jabba the Slut cake slice. Heh.

T.Sweetmap
Tracy from T.Sweetmap starred on Bake Off: The Professionals – yep, and she’s based in Milton Keynes! How awesome is that? You might remember that I ordered Dan’s Birthday cake from Tracy and she created such a stunning cake. You can find Tracy’s cakes at Bogota Coffee Co. every Friday and Saturday, or keep an eye out for her special dessert boxes which are full of beautiful, delicious patisserie treats.
Enquire for custom designs via: www.sweetmap.co.uk or follow Tracy on Instagram to watch out for new cake boxes.

Welsh Bakes
Bringing traditional Welsh baking to Milton Keynes is the brilliant Amanda, who started Welsh Bakes during lockdown. Her business is going strength to strength, selling a huge range of different flavour Welsh cakes, from Sicilian lemon to cranberry and white chocolate. The Bara Brith loaf is also amazing and will transport you to sitting in front of the fire in a rainy Welsh cottage… Well, it did for me anyway!
You can find Amanda at local markets or order online for home delivery.
What Ruby Bakes
Hands up who loves doughnuts!? That would be me, and me. This beautiful box of doughnuts is from What Ruby Bakes, another new business to come out of lockdown from Olney-based baker, Ruby. She produces custom boxes and cakes so these would make great gifts or an indulgent treat for yourself. The strawberry jam doughnuts were my favourite – you can’t go wrong with a classic! Light, fluffy dough filled with fresh jam. Yum!
As with all my MK Food Guides, I’ll keep this post updated with new cakeries that I come across. Let me know if you have any more recommendations!
