AD – This is part of a paid partnership with Midsummer Place.
Supporting local food and drink establishments is important, but I equally enjoy supporting independent lifestyle and artisan brands from Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. I’m excited to share that Midsummer Place has launched Midsummer Markets, a regular feature in the shopping centre on the first Saturday of each month.
The market has been created to give small independent businesses a prime position to show off their wares in front of a larger audience.
The initial response was incredible – Over 100 businesses responded which just shows there is a real appetite for small businesses to be part of Central Milton Keynes.
I popped down to the first Midsummer Market on 2nd March and it was great to see so many indies getting involved and speaking to shoppers. It is the perfect place to find a unique gift idea or treat yourself.
The initial lineup included Handmade by Betty, Lily Accessories, Todd & Sons Homeware, Lactodorum Whiskey, Willow Fair & Co and Uneek by Nature to name a few. The businesses sold everything from small-batch whiskey to handmade jewellery.
As someone who appreciates independent businesses and the contributions they make to the local economy, I am looking forward to seeing this become a regular staple in the shopping calendar throughout the year!
When is the Midsummer Market?
Midsummer Markets take place on the first Saturday of every month from 9am – 6pm. There will be a different range of businesses at each market to reflect the season. You can shop with a range of businesses and then grab a bite to eat from one of the kiosks. (I’d definitely recommend the Chicken Katsu Bao from Pandawoo!)
The dates of the 2024 markets are:
- Saturday 6th April
- Saturday 4th May
- Saturday 1st June
- Saturday 6th July
- Saturday 3rd August
- Saturday 7th September
- Saturday 5th October
- Saturday 2nd November
- Saturday 7th December
To find out which business will be at each market, visit the Midsummer Place website for the full line up.
