New Openings coming to Milton Keynes in 2024

Milton Keynes’ independent food scene continues to thrive! With another year upon us, plenty of exciting new indies are opening in and around Milton Keynes. In this blog post, you’ll find a list of restaurants, cafés, street food vendors and foodie hotspots opening over the next 12 months. There is plenty to explore.

Yuka’s Kitchen

A new Japanese food takeaway is opening in April. Yuka’s Kitchen is Japanese-owned and Yuka is passionate about offering authentic Japanese food to the people of MK. She says: “Expect Bento boxes filled with homemade food that are healthy and nutritious, just like the ones you see in Japan. I’d like you to experience as if you were in Japan!”

I am excited for this! Watch this space.

The Green Room

A new coffee shop is coming to Wolverton, which I am sure will be good news to many of you following the closure of Bar Bar and Gordoni’s. The Craufurd Arms has opened a new coffee shop which looks very beautiful indeed! The interior looks cosy and very welcoming. They are serving Wooden Hill Coffee and will have cakes from Oh My Cakery. There will also be a food menu but it’s early days so I don’t have any info on that just yet.

Big Jay’s MK

The Red House in Newport Pagnell is turning into a smokehouse and grill called Big Jay’s. According to their social media, they are the first Milton Keynes Smoke House and Grill (I’m not sure they are definitely the first) and they will be serving “the ultimate menu of mouthwatering dishes, succulent steaks, tender ribs, slow-cooked beef brisket, and the finest meats alongside Chicago-style pizzas and dirty burgers.”

Shab’s Café

Monkston Park will be getting a new coffee shop called Shab’s Café. Formerly Kuku’s and then Café Revive, hopefully, this will last a little longer! It looks like it is undergoing a full refurb and will serve coffee and food.

Wilson’s Deli & Coffee

Local street food vendor, Wilson’s Street Food is opening a café in Milton Keynes in 2024. They say: “Our unique take on street food in cold cut sandwiches at our very own eat-in or takeaway deli!” They have already revealed that they will be using Doe & Fawn Coffee Roasters. If their street food is anything to go by, this is going to be good.

Bliss Bar & Restaurant

Bliss Bar & Restaurant is opening on Fenny Stratford High Street in a few weeks in the former Fratelli’s unit. The restaurant is under completely new ownership. The menu will be a mix of seafood, Italian, and Mediterranean dishes. The grand reopening is Valentine’s Day, and they will have soulful tunes performed by talented artist Maggie Moulds. Eat, Drink, Revive

New Day Café within Ashton House on Silbury Boulevard in Central Milton Keynes has been replaced with a new operator. The café is called Eat Drink Revive and is the sister company to The Shires Pantry. It’s already open. They are still finding their feet, but expect lots of lovely local collaborations. They serve Wooden Hill Coffee along with tea from The Tea Division (part of Wooden Hill) They are also working with The Willen Ice Cream Company, Labour of Love Preserves, and The Online Greengrocer. It’s great to see a central Milton Keynes café using so many independent suppliers.

Mr Beans Coffee House

Wolverton Square is getting a new coffee shop. It’s apparently in the old Lloyd’s Bank unity. Unfortunately, I don’t have any more information for you other than a photo of the sign, so sit tight!

S&S Kitchen

S&S Kitchen is a Jamaican restaurant in Aylesbury that is reportedly bringing its authentic Caribbean flavours to Milton Keynes. They recently announced that they will be opening a takeaway in MK. Which fills a gap in the local scene. Watch this space!

Have I Got Brews For You

A new craft beer tap room is coming to Stony Stratford. Have I Got Brews For You already has a shop in Towcester, but they are making moves in MK! Located on the end of the high street in Stony Stratford, this is set to be an intimate space where you can find indie breweries and various craft beers.

Homeground MK

Technically this isn’t a brand new opening, but an opening nonetheless! HomeGround Café inside the YMCA reopens on Monday 8th January with a refreshed menu and new team behind the wheel. They serve Wooden Hill Coffee and will have breakfast and brunch options.

All proceeds from the café go towards supporting young people in Milton Keynes.

The Artisan Collective

The Artisan Collective opened just before Christmas. It’s a farm shop located in Midsummer Place that sells a variety of products from artisans. Central Milton Keynes has been crying out for something like this! You can buy meats, cheeses and other local produce here. They are looking for more artisans and producers to be part of the shop. The shop is managed by Steve Reid from Friars Farm Chutneys and Northampton Charcuterie.

Where: Midsummer Place, next to the Lego shop.
