A Guide to the Most Instagrammable Locations in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes has a reputation for being a concrete jungle with no character but in my mission to prove that there is far more to MK than chain restaurants and roundabouts, I’ve produced a guide to the most Instagrammable locations in and around Milton Keynes. I’ll admit that brutalist architecture found around the centre requires a certain taste but there are some really cool locations to get photos for your Instagram, blog or magazine!

In the days when Sophie etc was mainly a fashion blog, I always used to do photoshoots in London because I thought that would be better for my blog. But why would I want to be the same as every other fashion blogger in the UK? Milton Keynes is my home and as I’ve explored and championed my home town even more, I want to share my favourite photogenic places in MK.

In this blog post, I’m sharing three of my favourite locations to get great photos in Milton Keynes. If you want access to the FULL guide which includes more locations and tips for smartphone photography, make sure you subscribe to my newsletter, The Squeeze!

Woburn Abbey Gardens

One of the most beautiful locations in Milton Keynes has to be Woburn Abbey Gardens and it’s one of my favourite places that I have done a photoshoot.

There are plenty of different backdrops depending on what vibe you are after. The conservatory is a little bit tropical, whereas the maze is colourful and quirky!

If you head there in early May, you might catch the Wisteria Hysteria. It’s definitely somewhere you can get lost in for a few hours with your camera.

French Affaire

One of my favourite destinations for brunch in Milton Keynes, French Affaire’s interior is made to be photographed.

Think soft pink furnishings, rose gold accents and marble tables, this sought after spot also does the most amazing food. The crepes are delicious (and beautiful!) but if it’s the wow factor you’re after, try the afternoon tea – it’s absolutely beautiful and SO tasty!

Find it: 5 Odell’s Yard, 58-60 High St, Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes MK11 1FA

MK Gallery

MK Gallery had a big refurb in 2019 and it’s one of my go-to destinations for taking brightly coloured photographs. The walls are bold and right on-brand for me, and the cafe is light and airy – basically a photographer’s dream!

If you want to take a slightly different photo, head up after dark to see the neon heart. It’s stunning and even more beautiful in the rain with the added reflections!

Find it: 900 Midsummer Blvd, Milton Keynes MK9 3QA
