Milton Keynes still maintains a reputation for being a concrete jungle; the 70s brutalist architecture in the city centre doesn’t do it many favours but one thing is for sure – it is pretty unique! But what if you’re trying to get The Shot for the ‘gram? In the days when Sophie etc used to be a fashion blog, I always used to do photo shoots in London because I thought that would be better for my blog. But why would I want to be the same as every other fashion blogger? As I’ve explored my home town
In my mission to prove that there is more to MK than chain restaurants and roundabouts, I have put together a guide to the most Instagrammable locations in and around Milton Keynes! Whether you are looking for the perfect backdrop to your outfit photos or just an interesting shot for your grid, my guide has got you covered.
Here are a few of my all-time favourite locations in Milton Keynes for shooting photos: One rural, one foodie spot and one very MK! If you want the full guide then make sure you sign up to my newsletter at the bottom of this post and you will get the full list straight away PLUS details of my NEW Instagram hashtag that you can get involved with, wherever you are based.
Woburn Abbey Gardens
One of the most beautiful locations in Milton Keynes has to be Woburn Abbey Gardens. It is beautiful all year round but in the spring, it’s the perfect place for Wisteria Hysteria! The conservatory is a great backdrop for botanical photos. The gardens are full of hidden gems – there’s a little pagoda in the middle of a maze which is so pretty. It’s definitely somewhere you can get lost in for a few hours with your camera.
Find it: Woburn, MK17 9WA
My favourite location for brunch in MK, French Affaire’s interior is made for being photographed! With soft pink furnishings, rose gold accents and marble tables it’s a sought after spot. Don’t worry about it being style over substance though – the crepes are absolutely delicious and as beautiful as the interior.
Find it: 5 Odell’s Yard, 58-60 High St, Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes MK11 1FA
The new MK Gallery is a great location for budding photographers and those looking to add some colour to their photos. The exterior of the gallery has been transformed from a mere concrete block to wonderful brightly coloured one with an incredible mirrored extension! If you’re after a good wall – this yellow one might be my new favourite thing. The interior of the gallery is amazing too with a bright and bold cafe and a Sky Room with an incredible view of Campbell Park.
Find it: 900 Midsummer Blvd, Milton Keynes MK9 3QA
So there we have it – some of the most photo-worthy locations in Milton Keynes. I hope it’s proved to you that it’s more than a concrete jungle and there are beautiful places to be found.
I’ve wanted to create a hashtag for SO long but it’s been tricky coming up with something that hasn’t already been taken, makes sense, and doesn’t isolate my audience that isn’t MK based but loves my content.
So, here they are!
#EatandExploreMiltonKeynes – For great eats and adventures in MK.
#EatandExploreEverywhere – For great eats and adventures everywhere else whether you are in the UK or travelling abroad!
I’ll be sharing a round up of my favourite photos from the hashtags in each edition of The Squeeze and on my Instagram stories.
I can’t wait to see your photos!
