This is the first in a new series of blog posts about what’s on every month in Milton Keynes! In these blog posts, You will find a list of events, from food to live music events, markets to social events so that you can fill your calendar with local stuff. September brings us a whole host of incredible food events such as MK Festival of Food, Eat Street MK and Olney Great Taste. It’s also the month of MK Pride! I hope you find this guide useful.

This monthly street food market at York House Centre in Stony Stratford features a variety of local street food traders. Family-friendly and dog friendly.

Street Food Friday with Farm Slice Pizza

MK Biergarten’s street food Friday is the place to be for chilled vibes, tasty street food and great beer. Farm Slice Pizza is based in Nash and serves delicious pizza from their converted horsebox.

Eat Street Mini Food & Drink Festival

The first mini food and drink festival at Milton Keynes Discovery Centre! The lineup includes street food legends, Bandit, Saf’s Kitchen and Good Times Café. Dog-friendly and family friends. Free entry with limited parking available onsite.

Big Olney Food Festival

Celebrate the end of summer with 25 local vendors in the historic town of Olney. Enjoy live music, food and drinks all day for the whole weekend!

Eat Street MK – Middleton

Monthly street food market in Middleton featuring a variety of local street food traders. Family-friendly and dog friendly. Bouncy castle for the kids.

Newport Pagnell Food Truck Friday

Newport Pagnell’s monthly street food event to raise money for the annual firework display. Head on down to grab your Friday night takeaway from some of the best vendors in MK.

Olney Great Taste Food & Drink Festival

Olney Great Taste is back for 2022 – Eat, drink and shop from over 70 vendors. There will be street food, food vendors and local businesses. There is a shuttle bus running from Olney with free parking. Tickets available here: www.olneygreattaste.com

Street Food Friday with Gurkha Street Food

MK Biergarten’s street food Friday is the place to be for chilled vibes, tasty street food and great beer. Gurkha Streetfood serves Himalayan food. Find all MK Biergarten Street Food Friday events on Facebook.

MK Biergarten Oktoberfest

MK Biergarten and York House Centre are collaborating to celebrate the most famous of all German beer festivals. Between 12pm and 10pm, the York House Community Centre will play host to a traditional German Oktoberfest bar and oompah brass band style music and other performers throughout the day.

Entry including 1l mass glass and first mass: £22 (including £5 refundable glass deposit). Entry + pint + first pint of beer: £11. Advance tickets for £20 and £10 are also available through our website and directly at the Biergarten. Children are welcome until 7pm and their entry is free. Buy tickets here.

Stony Stratford Harvest Show

The Stony Stratford Harvest show is back for its 25th year. The Harvest show is a fun opportunity to show all of the produce you have spent the season growing and making. Classes include; Flowers, Vegetables, Fruit, Domestic produce, Craft, and Children’s exhibits.

Milton Keynes Pride Festival

Milton Keynes Pride Festival brings an incredible inclusive and accessible event for the LGBTQ+ community. The line up is incredible and features some of the UK’s best Drag artists and LGBTQ+ performers. It’s family friendly during the day, but over 18s only from the evening. MK Christian Foundation Festival

Come and join the teams from MK Christian Foundation’s social enterprises for lots of fun and food at the Urb Farm in Wolverton. Cycle Saviours will be hosting a Dr Bike surgery. Growing People will be selling fantastic fresh, pesticide-free fruit, veg and eggs. The Learning Tree will be running amazing forest school activities. The Urban Beelievers will be showcasing their beautiful honeybees and selling raw honey. Sew & Grow will be selling their gorgeous naturally dyed textiles products. Think Food MK will be hosting a pop-up cafe serving delicious handmade food. Foundation Learning will be sharing information and running activities. Childcare Pathways will be running activities for visitors. There will also be food from Gurkha Street food and This is Foodtopia.

Friday Night Live: Stranger Nights 80s Party

Arts & Culture Events

Vivian Maier: Anthology

Vivian Maier (1926-2009) has only recently been revealed as one of the most significant photographers of the 20th century. She was a professional nanny in New York and Chicago for over 40 years but took hundreds of thousands of photographs, which were found when her belongings went to auction in 2007.

The exhibition at MK Gallery features over 140 black and white and colour photographs, as well as film and audio which reveal the breadth of Maier’s work and her fascination for observing and recording everyday life.

This exhibition is on until Sunday 25th September. Entry for MK residents is free on Tuesdays. Find out more and book here.

Woburn Sands Art Trail

Take a stroll down Woburn Sands high street to view the wonderful artworks displayed in shop windows. On the first day (10th September, 10:00 – 14:00) you’ll be able to meet the local artists to find out more about the art and watch demos.

This is a community event organised by Carmen Hardy Arts and @myrahuttontextiles to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. You can donate via Just Giving.

The Mindful Mama Night Off: Drag Bottomless Brunch

This one is for the mums who need a day off. Join Gemma at The Mindful Mama Club for a bottomless brunch at The Whisk Kitchen in Woburn Sands. They will be joined by drag artist, Sandy Flaps. Join some new faces, or bring along some familiar mum friends to enjoy some child-free time to glam up, drink free-flowing prosecco (or beer!), and enjoy some delicious food and fabulous entertainment from the amazingly entertaining Sandy Flaps!

All Flows Festival

All Flows is a new two-day, creative, digital and technology conference presented by Pooleyville and MK Geek Night.

Held at the award-winning MK Gallery on the 29 and 30 September, All Flows brings together an inspiring line-up of influential speakers from across the worlds of Graphic Design, Animation & Motion Graphics, Game Design, Curation, Sound Art, Photography and Digital Innovation.

MK Girl
