A Spa Day at Hoar Cross Hall

A few weeks ago, my Mum and I were invited up to Hoar Cross Hall hotel to enjoy their spa for the day. I absolutely love spa days – there’s nothing better than a whole day dedicated to relaxation. After a really busy and a little stressful few months, this spa day was much needed and I couldn’t wait!

We visited on a beautiful spring day, which showcased the incredible house and grounds in all their glory. The former stately home is a Grade II listed building and all the rooms inside have been restored to their former decadence to create an incredible luxurious hotel.

We checked into the spa on arrival and were given our robes and towels. After a quick tour of the spa and hotel, it was time to relax…

The Spa

We were booked in for treatments at 12pm, so we had a hour and a half to explore the facilities and wind down. The spa has two pools; a saltwater vitality pool and a hydrotherapy pool. I loved the salt water pool as you can float about and there’s a little ‘cave’ at the end where you can get away from the hubub. The addition of salt means its slightly softer on the skin. There’s also an aqua massage bit with body jets, foot massagers and shoulder massages. If you’re feeling brave, you can get into the cold plunge pool – I was brave enough to dip my foot in but it’s meant to be amazing for boosting circulation – maybe next time!

The second pool is the hydrotherapy pool which has gentle currents and body massage jets making it perfect for relaxing muscles. We enjoyed this one the most as it was a little quieter.

The atmosphere at the spa was very relaxing. It’s quite big so even when its busy it doesn’t feel like it. There are plenty of spaces to relax from the pools to the snooze rooms to the lounges.

Treatments

After a morning of relaxation, we headed back to reception to wait to be called for our treatments. There were plenty of treatments to choose from from facials to massages. When I go to a spa, I always opt for a massage so I’m well and truly relaxed for the rest of the day.

I had the Elemis full body massage, a ‘soothing and nourishing therapy.’ The therapist established what I needed from the massage – to reduce tension caused by anxiety – so decided to focus on my neck and shoulders where most of the tension lies. The massage worked from the feet up, finishing with a head massage. Bliss! Safe to say I was feeling pretty chilled after the 55 minutes were up.

My Mum had the face and body sensation, which was a massage combined with a anti-ageing booster facial. She chose the tranquility thermal massage which used hot stones whilst she had a facial to restore youthful radiance. She thoroughly enjoyed it and was left feeling very relaxed after.

After our treatments and lunch, we headed back down to the snooze lounge where there were waterbeds. I love waterbeds, they are so warm and make it feel like you’re floating. We enjoyed a nap for the rest of the afternoon, by which point it was almost time to leave!

Lunch at Sally Bee’s

After our treatments we were feeling pretty peckish! We had lunch at Sally Bee’s cafe which is a cute, rustic little spot on the first floor of the hotel that you can enjoy for breakfast or lunch. The menu is based on simple ingredients that make great, healthy food you can enjoy a range of food without the guilt! My Mum and I had a mixed berry smoothie each, and indulged in a cheeky glass of prosecco. We had a pizza each that was topped with smoked chicken, bocconcini mozzarella, chestnut mushroom and basil. The base was thin and crispy, and the flavours were amazing! The pizza wasn’t huge, so it was enough to fill us up for the afternoon.
