What’s on this Summer: The Best Events in MK, Bucks & Northants

I have received complimentary tickets for some of these events as a thank you for featuring them in this post.

With spring very much making is presence felt, I am SO looking forward to the summer getting underway! Last summer was so epic. We went to so many great local events in MK. Living near the border of Northamptonshire, I was able to flit between the two, so I thought I’d put together a summer events guide to the best events in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. From music festivals to outdoor cinemas to food festivals, there is plenty to get your teeth into this summer. So get your diary out, start pencilling in some of these great events and get excited about supporting fab local businesses.

Here are my picks of the best events taking places in Milton Keynes, across Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. And yes, most of them include food.

Althorp Food & Drink Festival

Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May 2019, Althorp House, Northamptonshire

Althorp Food & Drink Festival returns in May and it’s a good ‘un! Located in the beautiful grounds of Althorp House, it’s one of the biggest annual food festivals in the area. There will be over 100 food and drink stands as well as culinary events and experiences. So if you are a hardcore foodie, this is not one to be missed!

World-renowned chefs including Jean-Christophe Novelli and Ken Hom OBE will be leading demonstrations and cooking classes over the weekend. Home to local vendors to national brands, Althorp is a real asset to Northamptonshire and I can’t wait to see what’s in store this year. Click here to buy tickets for the festival.

The Village Screen Open Air Cinema

26th May 2019, Chichely Hall, Milton Keynes

This summer, the Village Screen is bringing an outdoor cinema to Milton Keynes. The beautiful grounds of Chichely Hall will host a showing of Bohemian Rhapsody in May. I’ve never been to an outdoor cinema before and I am so looking forward to this event! It’s not just a night at the movies: There will be live music before the screening, street food from MK legends Bandit and Baja Cantina plus a fully stocked bar. So bring your blankets and settle down for a cosy night out.

Tickets for each screening are £14 + booking fee. VIP options are also available if you want a spot on the sofa! Click here to book your tickets.

Towcester Food Festival

Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th June 2019, Towcester Race Course, Northamptonshire

Towcester is one of the biggest highlights in my food festival calendar. It’s a weekend full of great local vendors from Northants, Bucks and beyond and it’s shaping up to be a great weekend for 2019. There will be over 100 vendors at the event and you’ll find everything from street food to cocktail classes, cooking demonstrations to live music. Phil Fanning, head chef at Paris House will be doing a demonstration as well as the famous Cake Whisperer, Val Stones from Great British Bake Off on both days. I can’t wait for this year’s festival!

Tickets for Towcester Food Festival are available here and are £8 – £10 per person with family and full weekend tickets available.

Mango cider at the sausage and cider festival

Sausage & Cider Festival

Saturday 6th July 2019, Emerson Valley Rugby Club, Milton Keynes

If you like sausages and cider, this festival is for you. I’m absolutely thrilled that the Sausage & Cider Festival is returning for another year in Milton Keynes. It’s a great chance to try loads of different ciders and sample the delights of Milton Keynes’ street food scene – each vendor will be serving some kind of sausage! There’s also some great live music so if the weather turns out right, it’s an absolute cracker of a day. Oh – and make sure you try the mango cider. It’s disgracefully good.
