Sophie etc is a Milton Keynes food & travel blog that helps you discover great eats and adventures in MK, Buckinghamshire and beyond.
Founded in 2012, my blog initially began as a fashion and beauty blog. However, after spending three years at university in Birmingham, I was surrounded by an incredible independent food scene and this ignited a passion for great food. I graduated from university in 2016 and returned to Milton Keynes and felt determined to show people that MK was not just about concrete cows, chain restaurants and roundabouts. I set about discovering great independent places to eat, street food vendors and immersing myself in the local food scene.
And now I help you to discover more of MK and North Buckinghamshire! Sophie etc has a huge Milton Keynes focus and promotes MK food and drink, events and local things to do. My MK Food Guide has become a hugely useful source of eating out inspiration and my honest restaurant reviews help people suss out the best spots to eat. I work in collaboration with some truly wonderful business owners to help promote MK’s food and drink scene, local events and things to do.
In 2019, I also launched Sophie’s Supper Club, an event that I host in collaboration with local restaurants to showcase the MK food scene. And of course to give my readers a really fun evening of social dining and great local food!
When I’m not blogging, you’ll probably find me at a local street food event, I’ll be planning my next trip, scrolling interior accounts on Instagram or doing my actual day job as a social media officer.
Come and say hello on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. And if you want more – sign up to my monthly newsletter to get loads of exclusive content every month including the latest MK news, independent business Q&As and more.
Sophie was a joy to work with. We collaborated with Sophie to co-host a supper club for press and bloggers and she was enormously helpful during the planning process. A champion of local business, Sophie recommended a number of lovely local companies and brands that we were able to bring into the final event, helping us highlight all that Milton Keynes has to offer and giving the evening a really authentic feel. The final event was a huge success, and Sophie produced beautiful social media content and a brilliant blog post to round the partnership off. We definitely hope to work with Sophie again in the future!
We had breakfast at The Greedy Italian last weekend after being influenced by @sophie_etc. I haven’t lived in Milton Keynes for 9 years and as much as I’ll stick up for it, I left because life there in 2010 was extremely dull. I’ve followed Sophie with such joy as she discovers and champions new independent businesses in MK. It’s so nice to see the city develop a personality (finally), and I really hope locals continue to support places like this.
After following a recommendation from Sophie etc via her awesome blog, we decided to have a crack at Made in Sud pizza for lunch. We had the N’duja Pizza and it was EPIC!
Thank you so much for your afternoon tea recommendations! I recently went for afternoon tea at Woburn Coffee House and it was amazing! I loved it and I would never have known about it if it wasn’t for you, so thank you.
There have been so many amazing recommendations we’ve found through your blog and Instagram. I’ve been living in Milton Keynes for three years and there’s so much we hadn’t explored but now we have an extra long list of places to go and things to see! Eat Street MK would definitely be our favourite find!
Since moving to MK a few months ago, we’ve been using your What’s On Guide as a bible! Through that and your Instagram, we’ve discovered so many places and events, but I think our favourite has to be Bar Bar Black Sheep as it’s only a short walk away from where we live, and alongside doing amazing toasties, has so many things going on that we can’t wait to explore and do.
We had the pleasure to celebrate Sophie’s first supper club. We were so happy that she chose Ole Tapas Bar! It was a fantastic night with a buzzing atmosphere, lovely people, great food and amazing live music. We want to thank Sophie for her hard work in showcasing the best independent restaurants in Milton Keynes as well as connecting people with local businesses.
Sophie has been a long-term supporter of both Saf’s Kitchen and other independent street food vendors in Milton Keynes. As independent businesses, we often rely on word of mouth and social media to get our message out there. Sophie consistently recommends us to her followers which has a direct impact on our business and brand awareness in Milton Keynes and beyond!
Sophie hosted one of her supper clubs with us at The Brasserie. We really enjoyed having Sophie and her guests dine with us. We work with a lot of people and some make the whole process more enjoyable than others – Sophie was very enjoyable to work with! The guests were lovely and the fact that she sold out made a huge impact to our financial targets. We hope to see Sophie’s Supper Club back again soon!
