In a moment of creative madness the other week, I decided to make my own face mask. I didn't have any in the house so I did a quick spot of googling and came up with a de-puffing recipe for dull and tired skin! It has coffee and cocoa in which are both rich in caffeine known for it's de-puffing properties. It's in a lot of eye creams! You can find all of the ingredients in your kitchen and it's really easy to make...
YOU WILL NEED:
1 tablespoon ground coffee beans
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Milk/yohgurt/cream (depending how thick you want it)
1 table spoon runny honey.
STEP ONE: Find a pot or bowl and put the coffee beans and cocoa into it. Then, gradually add your dairy product until a thick paste has formed.
STEP TWO: Add the honey and mix thoroughly.
STEP THREE: Decant into a small pot and keep in the fridge. It should last a week or so.
TO USE: Apply it all over the face, avoiding the delicate eye area and mouth. Leave on for 10 minutes then with warm water gently rinse off. The coffee beans also act as a gentle exfoliator. For extra de-puffing power, I used a slice of cucumber on each eye. Keeping it in the fridge will also help to reliven your skin.
I thought it did actually work. My skin definitely looks brighter and more relaxed! I sort of made my own recipe from what I found online, so I might try and whip up a few more. It's a great budget way to care for your skin, and there's no nasties in the ingredients either.
Have you ever made your own face mask?
