current hair care routine

IMG_1951
So everyone has their skin care routines, but I thought I'd share with you my hair care routine. I never used to bother with my hair when it was really long, but since having it cut short two years ago, I've had to look after it so it doesn't resemble a bird's nest! I prefer it short as it suits me more, but as it's cut in a style, it can go flat easily and become very hard to style...

I've recently discovered the John Freida Full Repair range, and I love the shampoo and conditioner. It really helps to keep my hair in good condition, especially as I straighten it nearly every day. It also helps to give it a bit of volume, which my hair can lack. It makes my hair very manageable and easy to style, whilst making it look very healthy.
Once a week, I use an intensive conditioner mask. I've used the Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends for about 2 and a half years now, and it helps to smooth down any dodgy ends and give my hair a nice shine. Like the John Freida conditioner, it doesn't weigh my hair down. It also smells really lovely and fruity!

I blow dry my hair with a big barrel brush to lift the roots to give it volume. I use the John Freida Protecting Root Lift Foam which helps to add volume and protect my hair from the heat of the hair dryer. It gives it a lovely shine and really does lift the roots. It's one of the best hair mousses I've tried.
When my hair is about 75% dry, I smooth some of TIGI Bed Head Ego Boost from the mid to the ends of my hair, the blow dry it with the brush again. It also protects my hair from the heat of my straighteners which I use after blow drying. You can also use it as a leave in conditioner to help fix split ends. This has imporved my hair immensely and I've used this for about a year and a half it's so good! It's quite pricey at about £12 a bottle but you can find it cheaper online and one bottle lasts about six months.

I don't wash my hair everyday, so on the every other day I don't, I tend to put my hair in a top knot bun. I've recently discovered Umberto Gianni's Backcomb in a Bottle on recommendation/persuasion from my friend Sam! It's actually amazing, and smells SO GOOD. I spray this through my hair to give it volume and I don't need to backcomb it either! It gives an amazing effect when my hair's up, and I've been spraying it on my fringe which I then pull back into a poofy quiff! It's brilliant!
Between washes, I refresh my hair with Batiste Lace Dry Shampoo. This is my favourite scent, it's really light and fresh. If I keep my hair down on the day's I don't wash it, I spray this through my hair and then blow dry it normally. It adds volume and gets rid of any grease. It's brilliant, and this has to be like my 15th bottle or something!
I bought the Umberto Gianni Rock n' Roll Extreme Hairspray with the Backcomb in a bottle as it was 2 for £8 at Boots. I'm really glad I picked it up as it's one of the better hairsprays I've used. It smells lovely and really keeps the style in place all day.

I was converted to GHD Hair straighteners two years ago on my 16th birthday. They are quite literally, the straighteners to beat all straighteners. They are pricey, but so worth it! They keep my hair in the style all day and you can curl and straighten your hair without damaging it majorly.
My Tangle Teezer is now my new favourite hair brush and I take it pretty much everywhere now. It has made my hair look healthy and keeps any tangles at bay without pulling or yanking on my hair. Genuis!
I'm not sure where I actually got this huge Barrel Brush from but I think it was a TK Maxx purchase. It's really good for blow drying and helps to give a smooth shine to the hair whilst lifting the roots, and therefore adding volume.

  2. Thankfully my mum's a hairdresser and works from home so I get the benefits of GHDs without the price tag. Definitely the best straightners out there x

  3. Can you show how you put your hair up in a top knot? I've had short hair for almost a year now and I can't seem to master any other hairstyles besides straightened or just pulling my top half up.
